Joining a division

Joining a league does not place you in a division. A division is one rung of the league's ladder for one season, and fixtures come from it.

A division can be joined in two ways. Whoever runs it can enter you directly, or you can ask. This page covers asking.

When you can ask

Open the division and look under the roster:

Not playing anywhere this season yet?

[ Ask to play here ]

If the button is not shown, one of the following applies.

You are already playing this season A player is entered in one division per season.
The schedule has been drawn Fixtures are generated from the roster, so the roster is fixed once they exist.
The season is over, or the league is on hold Neither takes changes. See When a league is on hold.
You run this division Use Enter a player under the roster instead.
You have not joined the league Join the league first, from its page.

What you are asked for

Your average

Divisions can be graded, and the range is shown at the top of the division — "Up to 49.99", "50.00 – 69.99", "70.00 and above".

If you have results in this league, the average is already calculated:

We have you averaging 56.40 in this league, which is what they will see.

If you have no results in this league, you are asked for a figure:

What do you average?

We have no results for you in this league yet, so this is yours to tell them. It is shown as your own figure, not as ours.

A figure entered here is shown to the division as your own, and is not presented as a measured average.

Averages from other leagues do not count here. A league's ladder is its own, so we only count what you have thrown in this one. If you average 70 somewhere else, say so in the box below.

Anything to add

Optional. Where you have played before, when you can play, anything they should know.

The text is optional and is shown to whoever decides.

If your average is outside the range

The request can still be made. The grading produces a warning rather than a block, and whoever runs the division decides.

What happens next

The division's host decides, or the people who run the league if the division has no host. They are notified when the request is made.

While the request is open, the division page shows:

Waiting · You have asked to play in this division. Whoever runs it will decide.

Withdraw removes the request at any point before it is answered.

If the request is accepted

You are added to the roster and notified:

You are in Division 2

You are on the roster. Your fixtures appear once the schedule is drawn.

Fixtures appear under My fixtures once the host draws the schedule.

If the request is declined

You are notified, with a reason if one was given:

Your application to Division 2 was declined

Where no reason was given, the message reads "Ask whoever runs the division if you would like to know more."

A declined request does not prevent you asking again, either for the same division later or for a different one now.

After you are entered

Your Dashboard shows what you have outstanding.

Matches to play lists your unplayed fixtures, soonest first, with both names and the round. Fixtures have a round rather than a date, and ODL Manager does not arrange matches. You and your opponent agree a time between yourselves.

Nothing outstanding

Every match you have been given is played. The next round appears here when your host draws it.

Your last results shows recent results. A forfeited match is included and marked Forfeit.

Your divisions links to the division you play in and shows your position in the table. Before the schedule is drawn it shows:

Schedule not drawn yet

Other divisions are not hidden. They remain listed on the league and season pages and can be read. Your own division is listed first, and is marked You play here on the season page.

My fixtures in the sidebar lists every fixture you have been given. Your name links to your record: played, won, drawn, lost, three-dart average and highest checkout.
