Getting people into your league

Two separate settings control access. Who can find and join the league is one; who can read a division's shared table is the other. Any combination is valid.

Both are on League settings and can be changed at any time.

Open or invitation-only

Under Who can get in, Finding and joining has two options.

Open Listed for anyone signed in, and they can join themselves.
By invitation Not listed anywhere. The only way in is the join link.

Open is the default. The league appears on the Leagues page for any signed-in account, with a Join button.

By invitation removes it from that page. A non-member who reaches the league's address sees:

This league is by invitation only.

Existing members are unaffected and continue to see the league on their own Leagues page.

The join link

League → Members → The join link.

Each league has one join link. Select Copy and share it wherever the league communicates.

Anybody opening the link sees the league's name and a button to join. If they have no account they are offered one and returned to the button afterwards, including when signing in with Discord and when confirming an email address.

The link always grants the player role. A former member who rejoins through the link returns as a player, whatever role they previously held.

The link works whether the league is open or invitation-only.

Replacing the link

New link, on the same panel, replaces it. Confirmation is required:

Every copy of the current link stops working — in your Discord server, in a pinned post, in somebody's messages. Anybody who has not used it yet will need the new one.

There is one link per league, so replacing it revokes access for everyone holding the old one.

Players without an account

League → Members → Somebody with no account.

A player who has not signed up can be added by name. Enter the name and select Add them. They become a member and can be entered into divisions, given fixtures and listed in standings.

Write down a player who will never sign up, and they can be entered into a division like anybody else.

They are marked No account wherever they are listed.

They cannot do anything that requires signing in. They cannot record results, hold the moderator role, host a division or receive email. Results for their matches are recorded by the division host.

If the league already has somebody of that name, a warning is shown and the addition still proceeds:

Somebody here already goes by that. Add them anyway if they are two different people.

Removing them works as it does for any member. Matches already played keep their name.

Claiming a record

Each added player has their own link, listed under Their link on the same panel. Sending it to them allows them to create an account that takes the record over:

Make an account and every match played under that name becomes yours — your fixtures, your table, your average.

Their matches, table position and average transfer to the new account. The panel then shows Claimed by and their name.

The link creates a new account and cannot be used on an existing one. Somebody signed in sees:

You are signed in already. This link makes a new account, so it cannot be used on one that exists — ask whoever runs the league to enter your account instead.

An email address that is already registered is refused for the same reason. Where a player has both an account and a written-down record, the two are not merged. Enter their account from that point on; the earlier record remains.

Discord is not offered on the claim page. An account is created with an email address and password, and Discord can be connected afterwards from Settings → Security.

Each link can be used once. It grants full access to that record and should be sent only to the player it belongs to.

The shared table

The second setting, further down League settings: Anyone with the link can read a division table.

Ticked, which is the default, a division's table is readable by anybody with the link and no account is required. The page shows names, positions and scores only, with no email addresses, Discord ids or profile pictures.

Unticked, the page is readable by league members only. The Copy this division box shows:

Or send people the page itself. This league has closed it, so only members can open it — league settings is where that is changed.

Nothing else about the page changes.

The two settings are independent. An invitation-only league can publish its tables, and an open league can keep them private.
